Liam Goes to Boston
Every two years the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockville sponsors a five-day trip to Boston for its seventh and eighth grade students. This is part bonding experience, part history lesson, part connecting with the Unitarian and Universalist heritage. This year it was Liam's turn to go.
He was very excited about the trip from the start. He was already very close to most of the kids in the group as they had attended a program called Our Whole Lives together the previous year. That program had a remarkable effect on Liam's maturity and on his sense of himself as well as teaching him many very useful life skills related to human sexuality.
The group left from Rockville in three vans on Saturday morning March 31 and drove straight to Boston. Over the next few days they visited Walden Pond, Faneuil Hall (Liam's particular favorite), the First Church in Salem, the Witch museum, the Museum of Afro American History, and many of the historical sites related to UU history.
