Nancy Inducted into Chardon HS Hall of Fame

We all traveled to Chardon on September 15 to attend the high school's Hall of Fame induction ceremony. It was held on the football field just before the game. Nancy, along with seven other alumni, were honored.

Hall of Fame honorees are alumni who have distinguished themselves and serve as role models for current students. Nancy was the youngest of those inducted this year (the younger man in the photo was receiving for his mother). She was celebrated for her contribution to humanitarian concerns around the world. Among the accomplishments cited was her assistance to Kurdish refugees in Turkey in 1988 following the infamous Anfal campaign, for which Saddam Hussein is now on trial. Also mentioned was her service to CARE-Bangladesh and her current work to ensure the delivery of safe medicines to treat HIV/AIDS and malaria in developing countries.

We were joined at the ceremony by Nancy's mother, her brother Jim, and family friend Jan Oakley. Among those attending the ceremony was Nancy's first grade teacher.
